Stewardship Commitment Letter 2017

10 January 2017

Dear Friends,

During the Jubilee Year of Mercy, which the Church concluded at the end of 2016, at St. John the Baptist we celebrated the year by showing our gratitude to God for his goodness to us.   I was personally moved by the overwhelming generosity to many in our community.    Your generous gifts benefited children, the elderly, the homeless, the hungry, and victims of domestic violence of our city.   Each initiative we undertook touched the lives of so many of our brothers and sisters in need.    We can be assured that God will bless us abundantly for our kind and giving spirit.

We are a community of the Lord’s disciples who are deeply committed to Him and grateful for the great things God has done in our lives and for our Church.     I was happy to hear from a young person who recently began attending our parish.   She said that she had been away from the church for many years.   She was newly married and she and her husband wanted to start their new life together with God.   They attended one Sunday Mass with us and felt very much at home here.   She said it was the warmth and goodness of the people who greeted her, the people who prayed at Mass, and the sense of peace they received by coming here.     It was obvious to her and her husband that God was present and at work in our parish.

Our community continues to grow both in numbers as well, and more importantly, spiritually.    The efforts we make at taking our faith seriously, trying hard to grow and progress in our relationship with the Lord and praying for each other makes a huge difference and attracts so many to our parish.

Today, I come to you to ask you to recommit to your faith, to our parish community, and to our future.   I ask you to pray for each other, not just your family and friends but the whole parish community.     I ask you also to recommit to your Family’s Annual Giving Plan, your financial contribution to our continued growth and good work.   On the weekend of January 28-29, 2017 I ask you to join me as we offer our gifts to the Lord, for the good of our parish family.   Thank you for all you do and may the Lord continue to abundantly bless each of you throughout this new year.

In the Lord Jesus,
